Power Yoga, Baby!

Tonight I start my 4-week beginners Astanga Yoga class. Yes, I’m jumping on the yoga bandwagon. I’ve always imagined that I would enjoy yoga, so I guess the time has come to find out. By actually doing some. Instead of just talking about doing some. Radical, I know.

Astanga (aka “Power”) Yoga is the one you do in a hot room, breathing in a funny way and weaving all the poses (’asanas’_ together into one smooth sequence, during which you get incredibly hot and sweaty, which sounds like fun, eh?

I’m hoping that I manage to stick with it. Persistence has not historically been my key competency.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone!

After an incredibly hectic (but enjoyable) pre-christmas rush and the inevitable post-christmas bout of flu I am ready for a shiny new year. I’m feeling very optimistic that 2004 will be a good year, it even looks nice, doesn’t it? 2004.

2003 was a good year for Firebox (work) and we are all very excited about the possibilities for 2004. I am particularly looking forward to trying to stretch my wings in new areas - my goal for the year is to invent something cool enough to sell on Firebox. Preferably in vast quantities. I mean, how hard can it be? I may well record my ideas on this blog, unless they are really good, in which case I’m keeping schtum until I get lawyered up and get the NDAs sorted. In short, I hope to start the long process of transforming myself from a ‘web designer’ to an ‘entrepreneur and inventor’ (who does some web design on the side). I’m not fooling myself that it will be easy to imagine, design and get built a desirable product or gadget - I don’t have much knowledge of product design, for example, but I’ve always thought that I could think up some funny, silly or maybe even useful and life-improving gadget which would make me meelions of dollars, and now is the time to find out if I have what it takes. Even if I fail miserably, I’m sure it is going to be a hell of a lot fun trying. Hee hee, I get to be a mad inventor. How cool is that?

I hope you all have a marvellous , happy, healthy, fulfilling, creative, invigorating, relaxing, and hassle-free new year.
