We Are The Web

Kevin Kelly has written a great – albeit slightly ‘gee whiz’ – essay on how the interweb is becoming a new cultural force based on mass collaboration. Oh, and how the web may be turning into a vast, self-aware metacortex that rules from the centre of the ultraworld, or something. No really, it works just like a brain works, storing information through relative strengths of connections – hyperlinks or synapses, don’t matter none. I predict that the web will achieve sentience on 24th December 2012. Bring on the eschaton!

More prosaically, this is why I am so excited about working on ‘social software’. Go read!
